ACE MX Wireless Channel Emulator to Validate Interoperability of LTE Base Stations and User Devices

ACTON, MA - October 12, 2010 - Azimuth Systems, Inc., a leading provider of wireless channel emulators and broadband wireless test equipment, today announced that LG-Ericsson has selected the ACETM MX MIMO channel emulator for testing of its LTE eNodeB base station products. LG Ericsson's design validation team will use the ACE MX channel emulator primarily for interoperability testing, particularly as it relates to interoperability of LTE base stations with user devices such as LG-Electronics' world-class handsets.

Azimuth's ACE MX wireless channel emulator provides the advanced features required for efficient, automated and repeatable testing of next generation carrier-grade LTE solutions. The ACE MX wireless channel emulator is well-suited for LG Ericsson's LTE testing needs as it features superior RF fidelity and is designed for simple set up and ease-of-use -- the ACE MX MIMO channel emulator's inherent bi-directional capability makes testing real-world interoperability between a base station and user device efficient and easy to achieve.

"LG-Ericsson is a company at the forefront in driving the market transition to LTE, and tools such as Azimuth's ACE MX MIMO channel emulator are crucial to this effort as they provide a reliable means to test LTE devices in a repeatable and cost effective way, ultimately enabling improved product quality and time-to-market," said Pete Paglia, vice president of sales and business development at Azimuth Systems. "Additionally, the advanced testing performed by the ACE MX wireless channel emulator in the product development cycle will help LG-Ericsson increase its customers' profitability by enabling them to provide advanced wireless broadband services."

The ACE MX wireless channel emulator replicates real-world channel conditions in a controllable and repeatable fashion through the use of sophisticated channel models and multiple programmable parameters, enabling mobile infrastructure, chip set and device vendors, operators and test labs to test devices in real-world conditions while minimizing the time and expense of testing in the field. A purpose-built, enhanced testing solution, the ACE MX wireless channel emulator is architected to meet the demanding needs of Multiple-Input, Multiple-Output (MIMO) and orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM)-based systems for testing LTE and other advanced wireless infrastructure equipment and devices, and also includes all of the backwards-compatible channel emulation features to test 2G/3G cellular products.
