Dave leads Kodiak's investment efforts into high growth information technology markets and has over 15 years of venture investing experience. He focuses on a broad range of opportunities in information technology including grid computing, wireless communication, mobile computing, broadband communication and green IT. He represents Kodiak on the boards of Application Security, BTI Systems, Enfora, Symwave, Vette Corp and Vivace. He is also an observer on the boards of Cortina and RMI.

Prior to founding Kodiak in late 1999, Dave ran a highly successful seed stage investment company called Furneaux & Company between 1995 and 1999. In 1993, Dave was a member of the early team at Chrysalis Symbolic Design, a semiconductor design company, and was responsible for directing east coast and major account sales. The company was later acquired by Synopsys. Prior to that, he was a telecommunications analyst with the National Conference. During his career as an entrepreneur, investor and fund manager, Dave has been directly involved in the conception, founding, launching and operations of many high growth companies in the information technology landscape. Selected earlier investments include ALIS (Karl Zeiss), Auroranetics (Cisco), Extreme Packet Devices (PMC-Sierra), Philsar (IDT), Skystone (Cisco), Telica (Alcatel/Lucent) and Watchfire (IBM).

Dave holds a B.A. from Colorado College, Phi Beta Kappa.

Based in New York, Chip leads our efforts in digital media focusing primarily on e-commerce, Internet advertising, gaming, and a broad range of supporting technologies and services. Chip currently serves on the Board of Directors of NYC based Appnexus; iAmplify; Ideeli; LiveGamer; TRA Global; Vesta; and Boston based WHERE. He also serves as an observer to the board of directors of portfolio company, Wireless China.

Chip joined Kodiak from Draper Fisher Jurvetson Gotham. At DFJ Gotham Chip led investments and served on the boards of ContextWeb; Ingenio (acquired by AT&T); Massive Inc. (acquired by Microsoft); NanoOpto; Pantero (acquired by Progress Software); Practical Engineering; Q-Link Technologies (acquired by Adobe Systems); and Quantiva (acquired by NetScout Systems). Chip was also a personal seed investor in FreeMarkets Inc., which made its IPO in December 1999 and peaked at $12B market cap.

Before moving to the Venture side, Chip was an early employee at Interactive Imaginations where he started the Commonwealth Network (launched in Q1, 1996), one of the Internet's first advertising networks, building it from a concept to top 10 media property with 10,000 sites. Interactive Imaginations eventually became 24/7 Media and went public in 1998. Chip also worked at N2k and was responsible for strategic distribution partnerships for the leading music e-tailer.

Chip holds a B.A. from Cornell University, where he was a member of the varsity basketball team, and an M.B.A. from Columbia University.

Lou Volpe leads Kodiak's investment efforts in software and core technology areas with over 25 years of technology industry experience. He focuses on new and unique software products and technologies that are disruptive and provide quick ROI to customers. He represents Kodiak on the boards of airwide solutions, Azimuth Systems, ChannelAdvisor, Egenera, Glasshouse Technologies, HighRoads, Newforma, and SpaceClaim.

Prior to joining Kodiak in 2000, Lou had a distinguished career as part of the executive management teams at three of the most successful technology companies in the Boston area - ArrowPoint Communications, GeoTel Communications and Parametric Technology. He has served as President, Chief Operating Officer, and Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing as well as a Board member at these companies. Each had very successful IPO's, and both ArrowPoint Communications and GeoTel Communications were acquired by Cisco Systems in multi-billion dollar transactions. At Kodiak, one of his portfolio companies had a successful acquisition when IMlogic was acquired by Symantec in January 2006. Lou has also served on the Board of Directors of a number of public companies including Atria (acquired by Pure) and Softdesk (acquired by Autodesk).

Lou is an enthusiastic golfer and has run the Boston marathon. In addition to being involved with his local community, he is a member of the Board of Trustee's at the New England Aquarium and an advisor to both Tufts University's Entrepreneurial Leadership Center as well as Boston University's Institute for Technology Entrepreneurship and Commercialization (ITEC) program and Office of Technology Development (OTD) Ignition Award Program. In 2008, the Boston University ITEC awarded him the Henry Morgan Award for outstanding contribution to the Institute.

Lou holds a B.A. from Tufts University and an M.B.A. from Boston University.

Andrey leads Kodiak's investment efforts in Life Technologies. He focuses on a broad array of opportunities in life sciences including molecular diagnostics, medical devices, biomaterials and drug discovery platforms. He represents Kodiak on the boards of Allegro Diagnostics, Astadia, Fluxion Biosciences, Lumicell, GreenLight Biosciences, SIMTone and WTI.

Prior to joining Kodiak in 2006, Andrey was the Founder and CEO of BioProcessors (sold to Seahorse Biosciences). During his career as an entrepreneur, Andrey has been involved in the conception, founding, launching and operations of over a dozen startups in life sciences and sustainable technologies. In addition, he is an Overseer of the Museum of Science in Boston and a Senior Lecturer at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. In 2005 he was elected as a Young Global Leader of the World Economic Forum.

Andrey has undergraduate degrees from the National University of Mexico and holds a M.Sc. and a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from MIT. He has authored numerous peer-reviewed articles and holds over 100 issued and pending patents.
